As I have always said, “If they’re giving you hell, call Shanelle!” And I mean it. With the experience that I have developed over the years, I have an extensive working knowledge of the criminal law process by being involved in every aspect of it. I first started out as a police officer in Salt Lake City, Utah, where for four years she learned the aspects of what life is like on the streets and the issues, such as addiction, that offenders face on a daily basis. During law school, I worked on the University of Miami’s Wrongful Convictions Project, a program that proved useful in understanding the impact evidence has on a criminal case. After law school, I became a prosecutor with the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office. It is there that I gained the most experience after trying and issuing cases, arguing criminal motions, and working closely with defense attorneys. It is through these combined experiences that I have gained my expertise in navigating the criminal justice system and recognizing the weaknesses in the prosecutor’s and state’s cases.
